Sky Broadband and Sky Talk to arrive in Ireland via major deal with BT

26 Jul 2012

Sky Broadband and Sky Talk will be offering services across Ireland from later this year after the broadcaster struck a wholesale deal with BT Ireland. The move will see employment increase to 900 people at Sky’s operations in Ireland.

The move means thousands of consumers across Ireland will be able to unite their Sky TV services with a range of telecoms and broadband packages from Sky.

The broadcaster will reveal pricing for the new service in the coming months. This morning Sky’s parent company BSkyB posted record profits for the year, up 14pc to stg£1.2bn. Full year revenues arrived at stg£6.8bn, up 3pc on last year.

New jobs at Sky Ireland

In September, Sky will open a new Customer Contact Centre for its Irish customers at Burlington Plaza in Dublin. This will see its workforce increase to 900 people over the next 18 months.

Recruitment is under way for the new positions.

Sky currently serves 10.5m homes across Ireland and the UK with TV services, including 3D TV, HD TV, mobile apps and on-demand content.

The company said customers will be able to pre-register for broadband and talk packages in the coming weeks.

“We’ve been looking at how best to bring our customers more choice and better value in broadband and talk,” Sky Ireland managing director JD Buckley explained.

“We’re confident of delivering the right products at the right prices so customers have a real alternative to the incumbent services they’ve been used to.

“We are excited to be broadening the range of products we are able to offer our customers and at deepening our relationship with them. We look forward to delivering the innovative products, better value and great customer service that consumers have come to expect from Sky.”
