The iPhone 4S
Orders for Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone are understood to have been received by Taiwan supply chain firm Pegatron Technology with plans to launch in September. It is also reported that Foxconn has landed orders for the 7-inch iPad to debut in August.
According to a report on Taiwan tech news wire Digitimes, Pegatron has already finished expanding its equipment and labour force to handle Apple’s orders.
Pegatron is a major supply chain manufacturer that also provides mother boards for notebooks for Toshiba, Acer, Lenovo and Fujitsu.
It also supplies Apple’s iPhone 4S and the new iPad.
Pegatron is understood to be gearing up to manufacture the sixth-generation iPhone – possibly the iPhone 5 – which is expected to debut in September.
The report claims a 7-inch iPad will be manufactured in time for August by Foxconn.
However, the accuracy of the report may be undermined by its claims that Apple is working on a 10-inch iPad. All iPad models to date have had 9.7-inch displays.
