Today we complete our countdown of Ireland’s top tech jobs announcement stories of 2013, from start-ups to multinationals.

It has been the year companies in sectors that are thriving – technology, science and cloud – as Ireland claws its way back from the downturn, have created jobs in their organisations.

Social media giants Facebook and Twitter, for example, announced hundreds of new jobs between them, Novartis revealed the creation of about 100 jobs, and HP proclaimed the building of a cloud R&D operation in Galway for 700 workers.

Ireland’s Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD, announced 167 new jobs for Cork and Dublin through six different companies, spanning ICT, medical technology, financial services and digital media.

Potentially up to 150 new jobs will be created in Cork by web and email security player FireEye, which is establishing its EMEA technical support centre in the city.

Dropbox is on target to not only meet but likely exceed its initial target of employing between 30 and 40 people in Dublin by year’s end and the operation’s growth will be defined by the overall speed of growth of Dropbox itself.

2 – Groupon to locate international marketing HQ in Dublin, deals site hiring 30 people initially

Daily deals site Groupon is coming to Ireland and is recruiting at least 30 people to work at a new international marketing headquarters that will be located on St Stephens Green in Dublin’s city centre.

1 – 200 new jobs as medical-device player Nypro locates in Waterford

Waterford awoke to some thrilling news this morning, that the region is to benefit from 200 new jobs as medical-device player Nypro Healthcare revealed plans to establish a state-of-the-art facility in the south-east of Ireland.
