UPDATE: Multinational software company SAP has confirmed that it will invest €110m to expand its Irish operations, creating 250 jobs in Galway and Dublin in the process.
RTÉ reports that SAP will create 150 jobs in Citywest in Dublin for roles such as sales and services.
The company will also create 100 jobs in Galway for its newly developed Cloud Services and Support Centre.
Many of the positions require people with various skillsets and qualifications in the fields of computer science, engineering, physics, maths, information systems, languages, business and sales.
The expansion, supported by IDA Ireland, will help SAP prepare for technological innovations such as cloud computing, mobile apps and database technology.
“The decision by SAP to create 250 new, high-quality jobs in Dublin and Galway is most welcome news and contributes to Ireland’s growing reputation as a global hub for the digital industry,” said Taoiseach Enda Kenny.
“SAP is the largest software company in Europe and the third largest software company in the world and its decision to further expand its Irish operations demonstrates the real value of an economically stable business environment and Ireland’s position in Europe when it comes to attracting the overseas operations of major technology companies like SAP,” he said.
SAP opened its first facility in Ireland in 1997 and now employs 1,200 people in the country.
