The specifications of Samsung’s Galaxy Gear smart watch, which will be unveiled just ahead of IFA Berlin on 4 September, have been leaked. According to reports, the device will have a 2.5-inch screen, a dual-core processor and social media capabilities.
Citing sources, both GigaOM and SamMobile report that the device will have a 2.5-inch diagonal OLED display.
The device is expected to be powered by a Samsung Exynos 4212 dual core 1.5GHz display, with a Mali-400 MP4 GU and it will have a 320 x 320 resolution display.
It has been reported that the watch will have a camera that will be integrated into the strap, speakers integrated into the clasp of the watch and NFC to allow for bump-to-bump sharing, synching and authentication.
The watch will also come with Bluetooth 4.0 and will have a built-in accelerometer that activates the screen when the user raises their arm to present the device to the eye.
One of the obvious applications for the device will be fitness apps and it will have enough sensors to take on Nike’s popular Fuelband.
