Hailo arrives in Cork; Galway and Limerick to follow

1 Jul 2013

Hailo is celebrating its first year in Dublin with the announcement that the taxi booking app is now available in Ireland’s so-called real capital, Cork.

A year since first launching in Ireland, Hailo has been downloaded more than 250,000 times and almost 5,500 registered Dublin drivers have transported more than 1.3m passengers from A to B.

The popular app is now expanding its reach in Ireland, starting with the country’s second-largest city. More than 200 drivers in Cork have already signed up to the service, which is live from today.

For the app’s first weekend operating in Cork, first-time users can avail of a €10 discount using the promotional code ‘CORK01’, once they sign up and register a credit or debit card. This offer will be available until midnight on Sunday, 7 July.

The brand is also running a competition on Twitter where users can win daily prizes of up to €100 extra Hailo credit.

Globally, Hailo sees requests for taxis coming every four seconds across its network of tens of thousands of drivers and millions of passengers. The brainchild of three London cab drivers, the app connects customers to drivers through their smartphones, making use of GPS and allowing for easy payment with a credit or debit card.

Hailo is available for free from the App Store and Google Play, and will soon be coming to Galway and Limerick.
