Washington, DC, technology consulting firm SMI – which has secured more than US$1bn for clients in the last eight years – is to establish its European headquarters in Dublin, it emerged today.
SMI (Strategic Marketing Innovations) specialises in assisting companies and research centres access US federal funds to support technology development, commercialisation and product rollout. This funding may take the form of grants, contracts or commercial partnering opportunities.
With a particular emphasis on clean technology, medical technology, nanotechnology and defence applications, SMI has secured more than US$1bn in funds for their clients in the past eight years.
“We recognise and look forward to the opportunity to support Irish and EU clients in partnering with and securing non-equity capital from US entities,” SMI president and CEO Ted Lynch told an Enterprise Ireland networking lunch hosted by Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TD, in Washington.
“We have met with companies and research institutes in Ireland who are clearly developing world-class technology and believe there are significant opportunities to support that technology’s development with the support of US federal budgets,” Lynch added.
SMI currently represents 90 clients, including 10 universities, small to Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies and non-profits.
