Hewlett-Packard has thrown its hat into the tablet-market ring with the Slate 500 tablet that operates on Windows 7.
According to the company, the HP Slate 500 has been designed specifically for business, enterprise and vertical customers, and features an 8.9-inch multi-touchscreen, 2GB of RAM, 3MP camera with video capture, front-facing VGA camera, is Wi-Fi enabled and has Windows Phone 7.
The addition of Windows 7 will see the tablet attempt to emulate the Windows experience in tablet form and it runs on the same operating system as many modern PCs, with businesses and professionals being its main target market.
The Slate allows the user to browse documents, spreadsheets and apps on the multi-touch display. Standard feature such as email, web browser and document editors are all present, as well as video ability and video streaming from the web.
One nifty feature of the Slate is the dual camera option that allows the users to conference with colleagues using the VGA webcam while taking still shots with the tablet’s 3MP camera.
