An Irish supplier of facility services has won a top environmental award.
Noonan, supplier of facility services in Ireland, has been awarded the Chambers Ireland 2010 Corporate Social Responsibility Award for Large Indigenous Company under the Environment category.
Commenting on the firm’s success, John O’Donoghue, Noonan Group CEO, said: “Noonan are thrilled to be awarded the ECO Business Award for providing a Cleaner Greener Cleaning (CGC) Service by introducing green chemicals, making measurable reductions in the consumption of water, energy, chemicals and reducing the generation of waste associated with the provision of our service.”
Environmentally sound
O’Donoghue said that the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) CGC project was a major factor in allowing them to progress and develop their environmentally sound services solution.
“The EPA’s Cleaner Greener Production project has enabled us to make significant progress in providing an environmentally friendly services solution, which has tangible benefits for clients. This solution is currently operative on 500 client sites. I would sincerely like to congratulate each member of our team, who were all instrumental in achieving this award.”
“The Noonan project is an example project for other businesses, across all sectors, to follow,” commented EPA programme co-ordinator, Lisa Sheils.
Laura Burke, EPA director said: “The Cleaner Greener Production Programme is one of a number of programmes being led by the EPA in the area of waste prevention and resource efficiency … We have already invested €7m in this programme and the EPA is committed to further developing its role in this area.
Noonan was one of 15 companies to have secured funding from the EPA Programme, whose long-term aim is to ensure a cleaner, greener production and eco-efficiency becoming an established norm in Ireland.
