The iPhone 4S
Samsung will file a preliminary injunction against the iPhone 4S in France and Italy less than a day after the iPhone update was unveiled.
According to Samsung, the preliminary injunction relates to two patent infringements for wireless telecommunications technology, specifically WCDMA standards and 3G.
“The infringed technology is essential to the reliable functioning of telecom networks and devices and Samsung believes that Apple’s violation as being too severe and that the iPhone 4S should be barred from sales,” said Samsung in a blog post.
“Apple has continued to flagrantly violate our intellectual property rights and free ride on our technology. We believe it is now necessary to take legal action to protect our innovation.”
Samsung said it would file preliminary injunctions in other countries in due course.
It’s the latest move in the ongoing legal feud between Samsung and Apple over smartphone patents.
Many Samsung Galaxy devices have been banned in numerous regions, as Apple alleges they infringe on its iPhone and iPad patents.
Samsung struck back, asking a Dutch court to ban the sale of the iPhone and iPad in the Netherlands.
