Telefónica O2 Ireland in cloud email deal
Telefónica O2 Ireland has partnered with Mimecast to offer cloud-based email to business customers to complement in-house email resources. Mimecast is a cost effective alternative for companies currently managing a variety of solutions in-house to secure, archive and provide continuous access to email. Users can instantly search 10 years of archived or deleted email without needing support from IT staff. In the event of an outage, users are unaffected as Mimecast guarantees seamless “always on” access to email.
Energia strikes €25m deal with Iarnród Éireann
Iarnród Éireann has struck a new €25m, three-year electricity supply deal with Irish energy provider Energia. The new deal will see Energia supplying Iarnród Éireann with a 186 Gigawatt Hours (GwH) of electricity over the three-year period to power the DART network and Iarnród Éireann depots.
New tech start-up invests €250k to break into UK market
A dynamic new business software company led by former Microsoft Ireland employees is to invest €250,000 in the coming year to break into the UK market. Inspired Software and Services’ BizPortal, which is based on Microsoft’s SharePoint technology, enables SMEs to save money on their IT costs and streamline business processes. The company specialises in the delivery of business productivity solutions based on the Microsoft suite of applications and in particular SharePoint.
Merrion secures US patent for GIPET-related tech
Dublin-listed Merrion Pharmaceuticals has announced it has had a US patent granted for technology relating to its GIPET system, which delivers drugs across the small intestine. A United States Patent No. 7,658,938 was issued for Merrion’s ‘Solid Oral Dosage Form Containing an Enhancer’, the pharmaceutical company said.
