Two people alleged to have hacked jobs website MyJob.ie have been arrested and a file has been sent to the DPP. The owners of the website have written to users, urging them to change their passwords.
Company director John Doupe wrote to users and told them the Gardai have arrested two people.
“Although MyJob.ie was not the primary source of the breach, as a precautionary measure we would ask all users to immediately change their passwords.”
Doupe then asked users to observe “best practice” in choosing internet passwords and not to use the same password for more than one service.
The breach is understood to have taken place earlier this week but users were only notified this morning.
In 2008, hackers hit Irish jobs site Jobs.ie and in 2009, hackers got into jobs website Monster.com and stole the personal details of some 4.5m job hunters.
