Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) has issued a call for “expressions of interest” for researchers to take part in its €1m Ireland-China Science and Technology research collaboration fund.
In a statement out this morning, SFI said that the €1m fund will support exchanges of top-class researchers in the fields underpinning biotechnology and information and communications technology (ICT).
The funding is understood to be provided equally by SFI and the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology.
The agreement between Ireland and China provides for exchanges of leading researchers at third-level institutions in Ireland and China, working in the fields of biotech and ICT. “A third, related field of interest named in the agreement is New Materials Technology. Work in this area should fall within the broader remit of basic research in the ICT and biotech fields,” SFI said.
SFI has issued a deadline of Friday, 28 March, for interested proposals from scientists and academic researchers.
