IT identity and security as a service player Mycroft is to create 50 new jobs at a new operations centre in Waterford as part of an IDA Ireland-supported investment.
Mycroft Inc. provides identity management and security solutions to some of the largest financial services, healthcare and government organisations in the world.
To meet a growing demand for its IT products and services, the company is expanding its EMEA footprint. Activities to be carried out in the Waterford operation include the development of Mycroft’s next generation of cloud-based IT identity and security solutions, technical support and R&D.
“A recent report by Microsoft predicted that by 2014 the cloud computing industry in Ireland could be worth €9.5bn and could employ 8,600 people,” said Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD.
“Last month, I announced the establishment of a Government-supported technology centre to bring industry and researchers together to turn good ideas into jobs in this area. The report also recommended that the public sector should take a lead, and I am determined to drive this process so that Ireland can become a world leader in this sector.”

Mycroft Inc.’s Irish operation will be run by Waterford native Sean Hanley, who has been managing the firm’s identity management business for the past two years. His involvement was key to the decision to locate in Waterford.

Horizon 2020, IDA’s strategy document for the coming decade, identified emerging companies as key to the continued growth of FDI in Ireland, explained Barry O’Leary, CEO, IDA Ireland.
“Mycroft Inc. is a high-growth technology company and a very welcome addition to the IT sector in the southeast region,” O’Leary added.
