Toshiba’s NB200 netbook arrives in Ireland

28 Apr 2009

Ultra-portable and ultra-stylish, the Toshiba NB200 netbook with a 10.1-inch screen will go on sale on the company’s Irish website from tomorrow.

The NB200 comes in two models featuring either the 1.6GHz Intel Atom Processor N270 or the zippier and more powerful Intel N280 Atom Processor.

With Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition as the operating system, the NB200 also has an Intel 945GSE graphics chipset, not top-of-the-line, but pretty much ideal for a good netbook experience.

As with all netbooks coming on the market these days, Toshiba is thinking of the wide range of customers for an ultra-portable, from businesspeople to teens, so the NB200 will come in four tasteful colours – brown, black, white and pink. It also has a slim, compact design that will work well in a briefcase or schoolbag.

As for battery life, the BN200 promises up to four hours from the three cell onboard battery, with the option of upgrading to a nine cell that can give up to nine hours use from a single charge.

A neat innovation is the onboard accelerometer used by a monitoring system that can detect freefalls or sudden impact. This feeds through to protect the 160GB HDD against data loss.

Another cool feature is the Sleep-and-Charge technology, via one of the three USB ports, that allows owners to charge their mobile phone or MP3 player, even when the netbook is switched off.

The Toshiba NB200 is available in Ireland from the company’s website.
