Japanese internet content security player Trend Micro is to create 100 new jobs at its EMEA headquarters in Cork.
Trend Micro plans to expand its existing workforce by almost 70pc, recruiting 100 people over the next three years.
As part of the ambitious expansion plan, Trend Micro will grow many of the existing functions and teams, including its existing technical customer support.
The company also plans to establish a new European anti-malware service, supporting TrendLabs’ global threat research and support in other regions. As a result, the Cork office will increasingly play a strategic role in its parent company’s global business.
“Our continued expansion in Ireland reflects the importance of our Cork office as part of Trend Micro’s global business,” said Anthony O’Mara, EMEA vice-president Sales & Operations, Trend Micro.
“We chose to carry on investing in Ireland because of the availability of the country’s highly educated, multi-lingual and motivated workforce.”
Headquartered in Tokyo and originally established in the US in 1988, Trend Micro is one of the leading global consumer brands, a visionary and leading player in the IT security market.
Since the company’s start twenty years ago, its state-of-the art security technologies such as the Trend Micro Smart Protection Network and Worry Free solutions have increasingly become market leaders.
The company established its EMEA Operations Centre in Cork in 2003, initially as a shared service centre delivering back-office support. However, it has since expanded and now has responsibility for 15 functions, including financial shared services, business application services centre and technical support.
