Yahoo! launches mobile content management system

5 Mar 2008

Yahoo! has unveiled a mobile content management system designed to help users better manage a diverse range of internet content on their handhelds.

Yahoo! onePlace consolidates customers’ mobile entertainment and information sources in a single portal. It promises to instantly organise new content and present it to users in a highly customised manner.

“Over the past three years, we have aggressively executed our mobile strategy to deliver innovative and indispensable services to consumers globally and become the starting point for the most users,” said Marco Boerries, executive vice-president, Connected Life, Yahoo!. “With the introduction of Yahoo! onePlace, we are announcing the next essential component to our mobile product line up.

“Yahoo! onePlace is where users will be able to find what matters to them the most, no matter where their interests, passions and information come from. Yahoo! onePlace will provide mobile users with a rich and dynamic content experience,” he added.

Yahoo! onePlace is based on bookmarking to instantly link to practically any piece of content (news feeds, websites, videos, images, emails, search queries) from anywhere across the internet. Bookmarked content will be kept up to date and tagged to make the user experience intuitive and useful, according to Yahoo!.

Yahoo! onePlace is expected to launch, along with Yahoo! oneConnect, in Q2 2008.
