A new service aimed at helping people create a mobile website from their computer has been launched today.
Zinadoo.com is the first product from tech firm Nubiq, a Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT) spin-off company. The campus company is funded by Enterprise Ireland and specialises in mobile services.
The Zinadoo.com service allows users to take existing website content and tailor it for user over mobile phone handsets. It dispenses with the need for users to write software or develop and manage connections to operators’ networks and host the service, according to Nubiq.
The product also incorporates text services which can allow users to promote their websites, such as group texting, text voting and automated text response.
Helene Haughney, chief executive of Nubiq, said: “Until now internet users who create content and services on the web, be it social networking, journaling or using sites for photo distribution, have had no way of doing so for mobile apart from simple blog support.
“As a solution to this we developed Zinadoo to be used by individuals, social clubs, high-growth SMEs [small to medium-sized enterprises] — anyone in fact — to build innovative mobile websites and community services. It allows businesses and communities to communicate using the most effective means available today: the mobile phone.
Haughney commented that there has been positive uptake of and reaction to the site during its trial period, saying users have utilised it for sending out notifications regarding golf competitions, concerts and match fixtures amongst other things.
Nubiq is a spin-off company from the Centre for Converged Communications Services established by WIT.
