The countdown is on for Apple fanatics to finally see what the company’s iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will bring, but current rumours suggest that the company is bumping up its camera hardware.
The official reveal of the two new phones will take place on 9 September, it has just been announced, and yet iPhone 6s rumours continue to flow out from sources within the company that it is about to make the first upgrade to its camera hardware in four years.
According to 9to5Mac, sources within Apple say that the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus’s 8Mp camera will be bumped up to shoot at a resolution of 12Mp, which will be boosted with the addition of Apple’s A9 system-on-a-chip sensor.
The sources claimed this would not see any image quality loss occur, which should go well with the news that this will be the first iPhone camera capable of shooting in 4K quality.
Selfies all day and all night
The front-facing camera, or selfie camera as it is more widely called, is also receiving a boost with a range of new hardware features, including a new sensor that should offer better quality video.
Not only that, but the issue of selfies at night will be helped with a new piece of software, rather than hardware, which will illuminate the screen immediately prior to a selfie being taken in the same way an LD flash would.
Other additions to the selfie camera would include bumping up its resolution to 720p while also adding the ability to take panorama selfies for the first time.
Also confirmed to appear with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be dynamic animated wallpapers that will follow the model already established with the Apple Watch.
At least for iPhone 6 owners who feel they might be missing out on some outwardly-impressive-looking hardware, the iPhone 6s is likely to look the exact same at the previous phone, at least according to those same sources within Apple.
