Android Wear smartwatches can now work with Apple iOS devices

Google has brought iOS support to the iPhone, enabling users to sync information from iPhone to appear on any variety of Android Wear smartwatch.

The move comes more than a year after the launch of the first Android Wear watches.

Apple itself entered the wearables business earlier this year with its own Apple Watch family of devices.

Android Wear for iOS is rolling out today and will pair with the iPhone 5, 5c, 5s, 6 or 6 Plus running iOS 8.2 and higher.

This will allow Android Wear smartwatch owners to get information at a glance such as meeting notifications, text messages, weather and news alerts and more.

Users will also be able to get information from Google by saying “Ok Google” and asking questions like “is it going to rain tomorrow” or create to-dos.

The new Android Wear for iOS will work with the LG Watch Urbane and forthcoming watches from Huawei, Asus and Motorola.
