With just a few days left before the release of the much-anticipated Fallout 4, its publisher Bethesda Softworks has contributed to peak hype by revealing the launch trailer along with the Pip Boy app.
With the game due to be released in just four days, the Fallout 4 launch trailer appears to be doing its best to get fans of the post-apocalyptic series into a tizzy by teasing more details of the game.
The release of the game was originally announced for the first time back in June, and since then the mysteries of Fallout 4 have begun to be revealed, not by Bethesda Softworks itself, but through leaked photos and videos that have appeared online over the past few days.
For those who have avoided any unofficial spoilers, however, the launch trailer did for the first time show the female protagonist that you can choose from the beginning of the game, as well as some rather detailed shots of the ruinous landscapes.
Set in the reconstructed ruins of Boston 200 years after a devastating nuclear war, the player must navigate the map completing quests, all while trying to avoid an untimely death caused by humans, giant super mutants or androids that will likely be hunting you down throughout the game.
So far, the launch trailer has generated nearly 400,000 views in a single day with the epicentre of the hype appearing to be on the Fallout 4 subreddit, with one person saying of the trailer: “I thought my hype had peaked. It hadn’t even begun to peak until I saw this trailer.”
Elsewhere in Fallout 4 world, yesterday also saw the launch of the official Pip Boy app, which will give the game’s players the ability to tinker around with their character’s settings.
Available on both iOS and Android, the few who managed to buy the game as part of the Pip Boy edition will be able to use it with their own Pip Boy, a wearable retro-styled computer the player in the Fallout series wears to help them navigate the wasteland.
Another cool feature is that when the player comes across games (in the form of holotapes) around the map, they then get the chance to play a number of classic arcade games from the app itself, just like in the game.
Oh, and if you’re really obsessed with the game, you can now even download the official CHAT app, which gives you a range of Fallout-themed emojis to play with in messages.
