Tech giant Huawei has just opened a new R&D office in Dublin, with the 50 roles allocated for the facility bringing the company’s total workforce in the country to 120.
Located in the IFSC on Dublin’s docklands, Huawei’s new R&D office will be Ireland’s lead site for the company, which has facilities elsewhere in Cork, Athlone and another in the capital.
The office will “expand and enhance research into business innovation”, according to the company, with network services, cloud and customer experience and ICT transformation development all on site.
The company will have invested €35m in R&D in the Irish economy in 2015, supporting the growing technology ecosystem in Ireland.
“Each year, Huawei invests at least 10 per cent of its global revenue in R&D,” said Zhou Hong, president of the European Research Institute at Huawei.
“The opening of our newest Dublin facility highlights our long-term dedication to investment and opportunities in Ireland’s technology sector.
“The facility will tap into Dublin’s growing clusters of cloud and technology businesses, nurturing future talent and providing additional new opportunities for highly-skilled professionals.”
