Carly Rae Jepsen has regained her title as internet meme queen with the help of an epic saxophone hook in ‘Run Away With Me’.

It’s four years since Call Me Maybe parodies, lip syncs and mash-ups galore were taking over the internet. The pop hit from Carly Rae Jepsen became the top-selling single in digital sales in 2012, in no small part due to its explosion in online popularity.

The same can’t be said for Run Away With Me, a joyful but widely overlooked single from Jepsen last summer.

But fans of the Canadian singer-songwriter have taken to Vine and Twitter to right this wrong and put their pop star of preference back in the internet’s spotlight. Cue #RunAwayWithMeme, which has been doling out countless clips capturing the joy of Jepsen.

The anthemic song has struck the right note with denizens of the internet, who have discovered appropriate moments for a jolt of Jepsen in unexpected places.

A dose of Carly Rae Jepsen can even revive old memes:

For some, it’s the all about the crash of emotions when the chorus hits.

But for most, it’s that epic sax riff. Anyone with a sax will do.

Or any thing with a sax.

Anywhere there’s any kind of reference to a saxophone.

Or any wind instrument.

With Christina Aguilera’s vocal range, you don’t even need a sax.

The tardy popularity of the 2015 release has been serendipitously timed, with Jepsen currently on a world tour taking her to Japan before returning home for a lengthy series of gigs across Canada (though she has still found time to check out her latest meme incarnation).

But it has to be said that the pinnacle of achievement for #RunAwayWithMeme came during the Easter weekend centenary celebrations here in Ireland.

A terrible beauty is born.
