As we continue to round up this year’s sci-tech job announcements, it should come as no surprise that Leinster is leading the pack.
This week sees us rounding up the myriad of job announcements that emerged across the island of Ireland in 2016. We started yesterday by looking at the 2,048 announced in Connacht.
Today, we turn to Leinster where, thanks to Dublin, that number was far eclipsed.
A full 88pc of Leinster’s 9,032 announced jobs could be found in the nation’s capital, with the other 1,084 spread around the rest of the province.
Here, we gather those 1,084, and take a look at some of Dublin’s largest announcements.
Carlow
1. MSD to create 200 new jobs in Carlow, Cork and Tipperary
With 200 jobs across the board, this announcement brought 110 to Carlow. At the time of the announcement, the company revealed that its Irish sites are involved in the production of more than 60pc of MSD’s global top 20 products.
2. Netwatch to create 85 new jobs in Carlow
In October, homegrown success story Netwatch created 85 jobs in Carlow after raising €20m. The company now has its sights set on global expansion.
Kildare
3. Kildare boost as Endress+Hauser announces new international hub
A new international SAP IT hub created in Kill, Co Kildare will see Swiss process automation company Endress+Hauser bring 20 jobs to the area.
Kilkenny
4. Cork-based CoreHR to create up to 300 jobs across Ireland
HR software company CoreHR announced the creation of 300 jobs at its offices in Dublin and Kilkenny, and its headquarters in Ballincollig, Co Cork. Of these, 70 are to be based in Kilkenny.
Louth
5. Shout it Louth: 100 new IoT jobs for Drogheda
Global digital transformation player Kellton Tech Solutions is to create 100 new jobs in Drogheda over the next five years, focused on opportunities in the internet of things arena.
6. Data centre consultancy firm TLM bringing jobs to Dundalk
Consultancy firm TLM opened a European HQ in Dundalk, with the New York-based company bringing a dozen jobs to the town.
7. YapStone bringing 50 jobs to Drogheda at new international HQ
US company YapStone announced plans to hire up to 50 people in Drogheda over the ensuing 12 months, as it officially opened its international HQ in September.
8. BD to create 20 jobs in Drogheda with €36m investment
Global medtech player Becton Dickinson and Company (BD) revealed it would create 20 new jobs in Drogheda in a €36m investment to expand production of its syringe products.
Meath
9. Shire to bring 400 jobs to Meath in $400m biotech investment
Biotech giant Shire is to create 400 new permanent jobs in Piercetown, Co Meath. The company began construction of a new manufacturing operation earlier in the year.
10. Fintech firm eComm bringing 30 new jobs to Navan
Fintech company Prepaid Financial Services (PFS) is growing its Navan operation, with 30 new jobs coming to Co Meath as part of an international expansion plan.
Wexford
11. Prim-Ed Publishing to recruit 27 staff at Irish HQ
Irish educational company Prim-Ed is to double its Irish workforce in New Ross to 54, with 27 staff to be hired over the next five years.
Dublin
12. Amazon to create 500 new technology jobs in Dublin
In May, e-commerce and cloud giant Amazon announced intentions to create 500 new tech jobs across a number of its facilities in Dublin.
13. Oracle jobs bonanza sees 450 roles created for Dublin
Oracle started 2016 strong, with the news that the tech giant was to create 450 jobs in Dublin as part of a worldwide recruitment drive for 1,400 new staff.
14. Voxpro creates 400 new jobs at new Silicon Docks offices
Cork-headquartered BPO player Voxpro recently announced plans to create 400 new jobs at a new Silicon Docks office in Dublin.
15. Pfizer Grange Castle expansion to create up to 350 jobs
New documents filed to the Environmental Protection Agency in July revealed that Pfizer would undertake a major expansion of its Grange Castle facility in Dublin, creating up to 350 jobs.
16. HubSpot to create 320 jobs at new offices in Dublin
In April, HubSpot announced plans to create 320 new jobs at its European headquarters at One Dockland Central. This will bring employment at the company’s Irish operations to close to 500 people.
17. EY opening Galway and Dublin offices, creating 270 jobs
Professional services firm EY is expanding its presence in Ireland with new offices in Dublin and Galway. 270 jobs will be created in line with the expansion, many of which will be Dublin-based.
18. 250 more jobs announced at Accenture in Dublin
In January, professional services company Accenture announced a further 250 jobs for 2016. This was in addition to the 200 announced the preceding September – 450 jobs announced in just a few months.
19. PM Group to hire 250 Irish graduates after profitable 2015
In October, PM Group – one of Ireland’s largest project management firms – revealed plans to create 500 graduate jobs, following a profitable 2015.
20. 200 jobs announced at cloud software firm Enterpryze
Enterpryze, a Dublin-based cloud software firm, announced the creation of 200 jobs that it hopes will be filled over the course of the next three years.
21. Legal outsourcing firm bringing hundreds of jobs to Dublin
Johnson Hana International, a company that outsources legal services from its Dublin hub, will expand over the coming 18 months by adding 200 to its workforce.
22. LinkedIn bringing 200 jobs to Dublin
LinkedIn’s EMEA HQ is here to stay. Following the announcement of 200 new jobs, the Dublin workforce is set to swell to 1,200 on site.
23. Facebook to employ 1,500 by end of 2016
Social media giant Facebook is creating 200 new jobs at its international headquarters in Dublin. The company is introducing new R&D and business innovation centres that previously only existed at its Silicon Valley headquarters.
