As the internet only becomes more relevant to our lives with time, e-commerce is moving from strength to strength. We spoke to some of the people from eShopWorld about what the company looks for in prospective candidates.
In line with the rising ubiquity of the internet, e-commerce is experiencing a massive boom and is only set to get bigger.
By 2021, it is estimated that retail e-commerce sales worldwide will reach a staggering $4.88trn, representing a growth of 265pc since 2014.
Seismic changes in the mobile commerce (m-commerce) industry, a subset of e-commerce, only further attest to the fact that this is a fast-growing area that is definitely worth considering when attempting to decide the best career path for you.
In turn, Irish-founded eShopWorld is growing “exceptionally fast”, as client solutions manager Darren Nolan explained. “I think eShopWorld is a really ambitious and exciting company to work with … you work with a really diverse group of clients.
“You’ve everything from marketing, technology, sales and so on. In my role, it’s really good to get exposure to all those groups.”
HR business partner Laura Brady added that the company fully intends to distinguish itself as “a leading e-commerce solution” and in turn needs a particular calibre of candidate that can help to support this vision.
The people hoping to become part of the eShopWorld team need to be “subject-matter experts” with a “customer-centric approach” who never lose sight of the fact that, above all, the work at eShopWorld revolves around helping people. “Day to day, we’re helping thousands of people to shop online”
Successful applicants can expect high levels of autonomy and responsibility that will allow candidates to come into their own and develop in line with their larger career goals. “You have an impact on the decisions that you make, anything from a client strategy to just an improvement on the process internally.”
