Not addressing diversity issues within STEM will hold society back from becoming the best it can be, as Anne-Marie Imafidon explained at Inspirefest 2018.
According to Anne-Marie Imafidon, only 25pc of those working in STEM in Ireland are women. This is not a statistic that is acceptable, particularly to Imafidon, who strongly believes that STEM should be “for the many, not the few”.
It is statistics like these that inspired her to co-found Stemettes, an initiative that introduces young girls to STEM environments in order to help them better visualise working in fields that are stereotypically dominated by white men.
