Do you want to continue working from home after Covid-19? This infographic shows that web developers, animators and coders are among the highest-earning remote roles.
Many of us have undoubtedly been drawing on our digital skills for some time, applying them to different aspects of our roles. In the near future, however, it’s looking likely that many jobs could become entirely virtual.
In a recent Siliconrepublic.com article, Hays Talent Solutions’ Jacky Carter explored some of the changes brought on by Covid-19 that could become permanent in the future.
Carter said: “The idea of working at home in itself is not a new concept: reports suggest that teleworking has grown by as much as 173pc in the US since 2005 – presumably something to do with improvements in technology, innovation and communication. As a result, more than half of employees (56pc) now have a job where at least some of what they do can be done from home.”
Carter also referred to a 2019 Owl Labs report in which 80pc of the US employees surveyed said they wanted to work from home at least some of the time before Covid-19. And, according to Resume.io, almost 30,000 people in the UK Googled ‘virtual jobs’ across 30 days between May and June this year.
Maybe people have realised that working from home is something they want to keep doing, even after the pandemic is behind us. If that’s the case for you, you might be wondering about the types of remote jobs that align with your salary expectations.
A new infographic from Resume.io might help. It categorises 30 different professions into three tiers based on how much they pay in the UK.
In the bottom tier, which features such roles as tutors, editors, copywriters, estate agents and HR advisors, typical salaries are listed by Resume.io as somewhere between £30,000 and £35,000 annually.
It says that mid-tier virtual jobs, including teachers, computer support specialists and auditors, can range from around £30,000 to more than £40,000 each year.
Professions listed in the top tier show average annual earnings ranging from more than £40,000 to between £40,000 and £50,000. Top-tier remote roles listed by Resume.io include web developers, software developers, animators and programmers.
Finally, at the very bottom of Resume.io’s list are five fields: legal assistance, data entry, pet care, travel agency and customer service.
