US company WP Engine has experienced rapid growth since it set up in Limerick in 2016 and is now opening a new office in the city.
Texas-headquartered tech company WP Engine is hiring 20 people at its newly opened Limerick office. Roles it is looking to fill include lead software engineer, senior DevOps engineer and product designer positions.
WP Engine specialises in WordPress technology, providing managed hosting as well as e-commerce and enterprise offerings.
The company has been operating in Limerick since 2016, when it announced plans to create 100 new jobs. It currently employs 120 people in Limerick.
This was WP Engine’s first customer service hub outside of the US. It has experienced significant growth in the intervening years, having more than doubled its customers from 3,300 three years ago to 8,000 now.
Its new office space, located on Henry Street in Limerick, is to serve as an innovation and economic growth hub for the company. The office is a former leisure centre and garage, but has been transformed into a workspace suitable for hybrid working.
WP Engine has around 1,000 employees worldwide, many of whom work in hybrid or remote arrangements. The company encourages staff to choose flexible working.
The new office has been designed to reflect this. It includes several employee breakout areas with complimentary food and drinks. There is also a multipurpose lounge with low and high tables, a breakfast bar and sofas. There are 88 desks in the office and it has nine conference rooms with capacity for between two and six employees.
WP Engine has featured on the Great Place to Work Institute’s list of best workplaces in Ireland.
As well as its Limerick location, the company has operations in Austin, Brisbane, Kraków, London, Nebraska and San Antonio.
