HP has become an official friend of the 2010 Special Olympics All Ireland Games and as a result more than 4,000 staff will volunteer to work with athletes and present awards in June.
Held in various venues throughout Limerick from Wednesday 9 June to Sunday 13 June, the Special Olympics All Ireland Games will see 1,900 Special Olympics athletes from the four corners of Ireland travel to Limerick to participate in the four-day residential Games, in 13 sports competitions.
They will be accompanied by 650 coaches and official delegates, as well as a contingent of more than 4,000 family members. The Games will be supported by a team of 3,500 volunteers who will be recruited from Limerick City, county and beyond over the next number of months.
As a result of the new partnership, HP Ireland’s 4,000 staff located throughout the country will also have the opportunity to get involved in the games firsthand and become Special Olympics volunteers without whom the games would not take place.
As well as receiving tickets for the opening ceremony, some HP Ireland staff members will also get the unique opportunity to present awards to successful Special Olympics athletes at the games in June.

“Special Olympics Ireland is a magnificent organisation and one that merits as much support as possible from the business community. This new partnership will also provide HP Ireland staff across the country with the opportunity to become involved in this initiative,” Murphy added.
