Mobility emerges as priority for enterprise – Citrix survey

2 Nov 2013

Seventy-one per cent of senior IT decision-makers believe mobility is a priority for their business, while 63pc of them believe it to be the biggest factor in helping their organisation gain competitive advantage, a global survey suggests.

The Citrix Mobility in Business Report, which polled 1,700 senior IT decision-makers across 17 countries, also revealed half of organisations have implemented technologies to support mobile devices.

Forty-eight per cent of those organisations are using mobile device management (MDM) and 47pc are using mobile application management (MAM).

More than half (51pc) of organisations said they are changing management processes to better manage employees working on any device from any location.

The survey’s findings also suggest that BYOD (bring your own device) is becoming the norm, with 71pc of companies allowing, accommodating and encouraging the use of personally owned devices for work.

Of these companies, 76pc estimate that more than 100 unidentified devices access their networks each day.

Worldwide, organisations report a daily average of 425 such connections, with the highest figures from businesses in Brazil (994), Canada (649) and Japan (618).

It should perhaps come as no surprise, then, that one of the top two mobile initiatives for businesses is increasing the adoption of secure file sharing and collaboration tools.

The other top mobile initiative for businesses is boosting development on mobile apps.
