Twitter has added UK technology entrepreneur Martha Lane Fox and Pepsi CFO Hugh Johnston to its board of directors.
Co-founder of Lastminute.com, Martha Lane Fox called her new role the “Best. Job. Ever” on Twitter, fittingly, with her history at Lucky Voice and Makielab leading to her taking up a spot in the House of Lords in the UK.
Hugh Johnston will chair the audit committee at Twitter, combining it with his CFO role at Pepsi, which he took on in 2010.
Announcing the news, CEO Jack Dorsey thanked outgoing board members Peter Currie, a Silicon Valley executive whose experience dates back to Netscape, and Peter Chernin, head of media and technology investment firm The Chernin Group.
More additions to the board soon, ones that will bring diversity and represent the strong communities on Twitter. This matters & is a must.

Twitter’s management has been completely overhauled this year, with its head of media Katie Jacobs Stanton, head of product Kevin Weil, head of engineering Alex Roetter and head of HR Brian “Skip” Schipper leaving earlier this year.
At the time, hints about board changes surfaced and now a continuation of the biggest leadership change at Twitter since Dorsey returned to the helm of the company he co-founded sees Fox and Johnston get involved.

In February, the UK government appointed an expert advisory board of digital industry leaders to advise the Government Digital Service on ways of transforming how services are provided to millions of people.
Fox was named in that group alongside the founder and CEO of LoveFilm Saul Klein; ASOS chairman Brian McBride, and Hermann Hauser, who is known for setting up Acorn Computers and its spinout ARM Holdings.
