UPC Ireland is planning to enter the Republic of Ireland’s mobile phone market.
A report in the Irish Times has quoted UPC Ireland’s CEO Robert Dunn as having said the company considers mobile to be an important sector for the firm to be present in, even though matters were still at an “explorative stage”.
Dunn added that any launch would be as a mobile virtual network operator and not through the acquisition of an existing network operator.
US cable giant Liberty Global Inc is the owner of UPC Ireland (NTL and Chorus).
