Antrim-based manufacturing service company CMASS celebrated its fifth birthday with the announcement of a £500,000 investment and the creation of five new jobs.
The investment brings CMASS to electronic contract manufacturing (ECM) status, which means it can fully build, assemble, test and repair electronic systems and products, and provide printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) capability alongside its existing wiring harness and software media duplication services.
“This project elevates us to ECM status and in turn gives us the opportunity to increase our sales revenues outside of Northern Ireland and grow our exports on a global scale,” said Barry Mulhern, managing director of CMASS.
Jobs for Mallusk
Joining CMASS’s celebration of five years in business yesterday (29 July), Northern Ireland’s Enterprise, Trade and Investment Minister Jonathan Bell praised the “dynamic local company”, which has grown from providing labour-only production services to “one of Northern Ireland’s leading manufacturing services companies”.
“The investment of more than £500,000 by the company and the support offered by Invest Northern Ireland, of a £62,933 capital grant, demonstrates a commitment to the future by this high-growth business,” said Minister Bell.
The £500,000 investment will fund a state-of-art PCBA capability, which will underpin the creation of five new jobs in Mallusk in Newtownabbey, County Antrim.
Growing globally
Minister Bell also noted CMASS’s strong performance in export markets, and it’s hoped this investment will further boost the company’s global growth and competitiveness.
“We have performed strongly in recent years with 90pc of our sales being generated outside of Northern Ireland,” said Mulhern.
“We have invested heavily in the latest generation equipment and this was the final piece of the jigsaw to enable to us to offer fully outsourced manufacturing services to our current and new customer base.”
