This week’s career memes highlight app developers, whose job prospects look pretty good: in Ireland, for instance, technology companies lead the way in capturing a share of Europe’s €10bn apps economy.
That’s according to a study of the European apps economy by VisionMobile and Plum Consulting.
A signficant part of the engine behind this apps economy are app developers. They may work in teams, with software experts, data specialists and graphic designers, for example, to develop and create an app for just about any computing device, from desktop computers to mobile devices. Once the app exists, the developer will help test it and correct any bugs prior to the app’s launch.
App developers will need a sound knowledge of coding languages/computer programming to do their work. Other skills that will serve them well include communication, analytical and technical skills, as well as creativity and attention to detail.
In Ireland, app developers can expect to earn an annual salary of €40,000-€57,990, according to PayScale.com.
