In the latest in a series of export deals that brings the tally of potential revenues to more than €7m so far, the Dublin-headquartered Digital Marketing Institute (DMI) has signed a deal worth €2m to train 2,000 students in Malaysia and across the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) region.
In recent months, the institute signed contracts worth €3m each in India and South Africa.
In the latest deal, the DMI has signed a deal with Specialist Knowledge Centre (SKC) to deliver DMI digital education and professional certification in Malaysia and across the entire ASEAN region.
More than 2,000 Malaysian students will undertake digital marketing training this year in four of the largest and most prestigious universities in the country.

The digital sector is growing rapidly in Malaysia. The Malaysian government recently announced an initiative to create 160,000 new digital jobs in the country by 2020 and, according to Forbes, the ICT sector already accounts for 9.5pc of the nation’s GDP.
The managing director of SKC Muhammad Faiz Ahmed said the nation’s Digital Malaysia strategy will create a new class of digital entrepreneur and will drive automation and technology adoption among Malaysian SMEs to boost productivity.

“Having a digital economy is a key element in future economic growth and Malaysia is poised to make the most of this global shift. Our partnership will place the DMI and the SKC at the forefront of the innovative digital economy in Malaysia by developing and empowering digital knowledge in the country – it is a very exciting time for digital here.”
