A new move by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) will see them outsourcing their IT requirements to another company.
CER has signed a new managed services agreement with Irish owned managed services company Hibernia Evros Technology Group (HETG) for the full outsourcing of its IT requirements, with the aim of making their own operation more efficient.
“Our goal is to encourage competition and efficiencies in the electricity and natural gas market in Ireland so there is an onus on us to operate efficiently ourselves,” commented Paul O’Neill of CER.
“Outsourcing our IT allows us to reduce cost and focus on our core business.”
An outsourced helpdesk
Following a selection process, HETG – which has offices in Dublin, Cork, Waterford and Kildare – was selected for the consultancy, deployment and ongoing support of the IT infrastructure for CER including the provision of an outsourced helpdesk service.
“We were able to recommend a programme of IT improvements to ensure long term suitability, reliability and overall efficiency of the Commission’s IT infrastructure,” said John Kennedy, sales and marketing director.
“The HETG outsourced support model has been well received by our users and by all within CER.”
CER is the regulator for the electricity and natural gas sectors in Ireland.
