Customers of Vodafone in Ireland experienced difficulties accessing the network today (1 September) due to a major outage at the company’s data centre.
Customers at several locations around the country experienced problems making calls and receiving messages.
A spokesperson for the company told Siliconrepublic.com that the fault was caused by a technical issue at one of the company’s data centres, which affected calls and data, making throughput intermittent during the afternoon.
The fault is understood to have occurred around lunchtime today.
In a statement, the company said: “Some Vodafone customers are currently experiencing intermittent issues with their mobile and data services due to a technical issue.
“We have identified the root cause of the issue and are working to restore full service as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”
