Tom Morrisroe, serial entrepreneur and investor, was named Irish Software Association (ISA) Person of the Year 2015.
Ireland’s software luminaries were out in force last night (20 November) and, at a special event in Dublin, Tom Morrisroe, serial entrepreneur and investor, was named the Irish Software Association (ISA) Person of the Year.
IBEC loves its glitzy black-tie dinners and the annual ISA shindig was no exception, with WordPress founding developer and Automattic founder Matt Mullenweg present to offer sage advice. He spoke of how Irish SMEs can overcome early challenges to grow and scale internationally.
Employee recognition software creator Globoforce was named ISA Digital Technology Company of the Year for transforming how companies can acknowledge and recognise the work of their employees. The company has also established itself as a thought leader in employee recognition through their WorkHuman conference, which brought together prominent figures such as Arianna Huffington and Rob Lowe, to address how to create a better workplace, focused on the needs of employees. Globoforce’s platform is widely used by Fortune 500 companies across the world.

Serial entrepreneur and investor Tom Morrisroe was named ISA Person of the Year 2015.
A native of Ballaghadereen, Co Roscommon, Morrisroe was founder of the Now Factory, which delivered analytical services to the world’s largest telecommunications operators.
The Now Factory employed more than 200 people, helping clients in managing more than 500m telecom subscribers worldwide by 2013, when IBM acquired the company.
Previously, Tom was a co-founder of Arantech, where he guided the company to the No 1 market position in customer experience management, securing key global contracts and building revenues in excess of €25 million by 2008, at which time the company was acquired by Danaher.
Other award winners on the night were Asavie, S3 Group, Silvercloud Health, Drop, FINEOS, IBM Ireland, and Trinity College Dublin.
ISA chair Cronan McNamara said that more than 70 Irish software firms entered this year’s awards.
“This year, we received an influx of extremely talented and worthy nominations. The quality of entrants proves to investors at home and abroad that a wealth of knowledge, expertise and incentives exist in Ireland,” said McNamara.
