Irish Dixons stores rebrand as Currys

6 Aug 2008

All Dixons outlets around the country will be now be renamed as Currys in a rebranding exercise by DSG Retail Ireland, which will be focusing on Currys as the consumer electronics division and introducing over 3,000 new products to the stores.

This name change will bring the total of Currys outlets in Ireland to 17. Meanwhile, Dixons will focus on e-commerce, with the website to become the main online retailer for DSG, as it has for Dixons in the UK.

However, the Dixons store in the Jervis shopping centre in Dublin city centre will become a PCWorld outlet, focusing on computing and related accessories.

While a Currys store opened recently in Dundalk creating 20 new jobs, a further 25 positions are to be created when the 18th store opens somewhere in the Leinster region later this year, bringing the total of DSG employees in Ireland to 845.

Meanwhile, both the Currys.ie and Dixons.ie websites, which have been under construction for some time, will be launched along with PCWorld.ie later this year.
