Sony Ericsson’s first handset to run on the Android mobile operating system – the Xperia X10 – is due to go on sale in Ireland on 8 April through O2 and the Carphone Warehouse, with its official launch happening tonight at the O2/Point in Dublin.
The Xperia X10 may run on Google’s Android OS, but Sony Ericsson is focusing on its own overlay in the form of Timescape and Mediascape – two ways of browsing through your phone by your social connections and for relevant media content.
Timescape allows for a check through Facebook, text messages, Twitter, photos and emails at a glance as they are displayed in one interface, while Mediascape pulls in media not just from your phone but also links to YouTube and Sony Ericsson’s PlayNow and possibly the O2 Music service.
The Xperia X10 is priced from free if you go with certain tariffs on Post-Pay.
