An event taking place this October in Cork will demonstrate how implementing a virtual desktop can cut costs of up to 60pc in business.
A cloud and virtualisation road show entitled ‘Beyond Virtualisation – From Desktop to the Cloud’, takes place in Dublin and Cork on 18 and 20 October respectively, and will feature Paul Bermingham, vice-president, information technology services, Hertz International, as keynote speaker.
The event is expected to address the challenges and issues in implementing a virtual desktop infrastructure, which reduced cost, as well as streamlining support and management, and demonstrate how virtualisation on the desktop can cut costs by up to 60pc. He will also discuss how Hertz scaled down the number of production servers across its European operations.
Practical overview
“This will be a nuts and bolts, practical overview on how Irish users can save time, money and IT resources by utilising the latest virtualisation technology in the data centre and on the desktop,” commented John Kennedy, sales and marketing director, Hibernia Evros Technology Group.
“It should be of interest to all IT executives, CIOs, COOs and finance directors in organisations with five or more servers,” he added.
HiberniaEvros is currently working with Hertz to roll out VMware Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
