A team of Google developers looking to do its bit for female representation has developed a suite of new emojis.
“Google wants to increase the representation of women in emoji and would like to propose that Unicode implementers do the same.”
So begins the Google suggestion that more professional women should be represented in the growing armoury of emojis that Unicode produces each year.

Unicode is forever improving the graphic options we have, with a more diverse list currently available than ever before.
Last year, Apple instigated the racial and sexual diversity on offer after being the first to host the likes of same-sex couples with multiple skin tone options.
Now, Google wants to press for things like female college graduates, scientists, engineers, rock stars, farmers, welders, teachers, mechanics, doctors and chefs.
“No matter where you look, women are gaining visibility and recognition as never before,” reads the proposal from four Google employees. “Isn’t it time that emojis also reflect the reality that women play a key role in every walk of life in every profession?”
Unicode is the body that officially decides on software standards, and also, the emojis that can be shared across multiple platforms.
For example, Unicode has nothing to do with the ginger, Kim Kardashian or Mr Tayto-themed monstrosities of recent times.
