The new iPad

Take a look at Apple’s new products – the new iPad and the Apple TV – revealed this week at the consumer technology company’s latest launch event.

The new iPad – simply called ‘iPad’ – features a 2,048 x 1,536 resolution Retina display which offers 264 pixels per inch and an A5X processor. It will provide 4G LTE connectivity with speeds of up to 73Mbps for US customers. It also offers HSPA+ connectivity of up to 21Mbps and DC-HSDPA connectivity of up to 41Mbps.

Its rear-facing camera has a 5-megapixel sensor which offers backside illumination and can film 1080p footage. As with previous models, the next iPad comes with a 10-hour battery life, is available in black and white and comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB models.

Along with the iPad’s reveal, Apple also announced it would bring iPhoto to all iOS devices. The app lets users adjust colour, exposure and contrast with multitouch controls. It can connect with Facebook, Twitter and Flickr, stream photos to an Apple TV through AirPlay and publish photo journals to the web with iCloud.

At the same event, Apple also revealed the new Apple TV with a new user interface. It can now show 1080p video from sources such as iTunes, Netflix and Vimeo. Users can get content from iTunes and access them with iTunes Match from iCloud on their Apple TVs.

The next iPad will be out in Ireland on 23 March while the next Apple TV will be available from 16 March. Take a look at both products in our video from the London launch.
