The battery pack for the Apple iPad 3, which is scheduled to be mass produced in the first quarter of next year, has been redesigned to be thinner and lighter, and with a longer service life than the iPad 2 edition, according to reports.
According to a report from Taiwan Economic News, the iPad 3 battery module will be priced 20pc to 30pc higher than the iPad 2 battery, and this will surely yield suppliers Simplo Technology Co and Dynapack International significant profits.
The new battery pack will be required to meet CTIA IEEE 1625 standards.
Apple iPad 3 battery packs will be delivered in the fourth quarter in time to manufacture the first batches of iPad 3 tablet computers that will hit the market in the first quarter of 2012.
Quoting institutional investors, the report expects Simplo and Dynapack’s sales revenues for the third quarter of this year to surge by up to 15pc. Simplo chairman Raymond Sung is understood to have told investors that revenues could shoot up by 20pc, driven largely by demand for tablet products.
