The winners of the ninth iPhone Photography Awards (IPP) have been announced, with eagles, cathedrals and foxes to the fore. Here are 25 of the best images from the finals.

The annual IPP Awards show the continued improvement of camera quality in iPhones, with this ninth iteration of the event standing up alongside other awards that rely on far more specialised and costly equipment.

Taking in categories like People, Travel, Landscape, Sunset and more, the variety on show is really something, with plenty of opportunistic images regular users could quite easily capture, like that of a skyline out the window of a plane, for example.

“This year’s entries contained thousand’s of excellent submissions, presenting quite a challenge for our judges,” said Kenan Aktulun, creator of the awards. “It is truly amazing to have so many people from around the world share their experiences, the beauty they see and their personal moments with us.”

Here are 25 of the stand-out entries, and winners, of the awards:

Patryk Kuleta won first place in the Photographer of the Year with ‘Modern Cathedrals’ “Most of my shots come from Warsaw and one from Strasbourg. The idea was to make it more impressionistic, to show architecture in a completely different way that combines my background in graphic design and painting.”

Matthew Sullivan finished third – “Walking across the Harvard Bridge from Boston to Cambridge on my way to work, I noticed that the Hancock Tower was casting a long, sharp shadow on the frozen Charles River. I could tell that the shadow just made it to the Cambridge side and thought that a shot looking back towards Boston might be interesting.”

I rented a bicycle and idled along the Li River the whole afternoon, talking with the local people and taking pictures.”
