A mother who listed her two kids for sale on the online auction site eBay as a joke found out police didn’t think it was very funny.
Officials in the southern Australia city of Geelong were notified last week that a woman was trying to sell her children, a boy and a girl both under the age of 10, on the auction site. The listing included photos of the kids.
Police and child welfare officers then launched a joint investigation and tracked down the woman.
The woman said the eBay listing was a joke, police said in a statement.
While no charges are being laid, “police discourage this type of behaviour,” the statement added.
