Irish tech company AMCS Group opened its new facility in Limerick with a research and development centre which will see it double its workforce of 65 by 2015.
The opening of the new facility and R&D centre follows AMCS Group’s recent acquisition of UK-based software services provider The Solution Works as part of its global expansion strategy.
The new roles will be in software development, software support, project management and sales and marketing.
AMCS Group was established in 2003 and supplies IT, management and tracking solutions for the recycling and environmental management sectors. Its technology aims to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills and to encourage recycling.
It now employs 65 people in its Limerick headquarters and has offices in the UK, USA and Sweden. IT will open an office in France in 2012.
“The launch of our new research and development centre highlights our commitment to expanding our servicing capabilities in order to meet the ever-changing needs of our clients,” said Jimmy Martin, CEO of AMCS.
“In the last two years, we have invested approximately €4m in research, development and international expansion. We will continue to develop innovative and integrated end-to-end software and hardware systems that maximise efficiencies and profitability for our clients and helps them meet their recycling targets.
“In Ireland alone, AMCS provides measurement and billing solutions for over 1m households. In the last two years, with the highly valued support of Enterprise Ireland, we have significantly expanded our presence in Continental Europe, the UK and the USA, creating over 30 new jobs within the company.
“We believe our unique technology and expertise puts us in an ideal position to become an industry leader, not only in our existing markets but across Europe and the USA,” he said.
