September marked yet another successful Career Zoo for companies and job-seekers alike and a number of these companies spoke to Siliconrepublic.com about what skills they want to recruit.
With some new additions and familiar faces at the event on 13 September in the Convention Centre Dublin (CCD), almost all were there to tap Ireland’s high number of skilled graduates to join their companies in what is surely a sign of the improving jobs market.
One newcomer to September’s Career Zoo was the dedicated BioCluster Zone where companies including BioMarin, Amgen, Bristol-Mayers Squibb and NIBRT were showcasing one of the country’s fastest-growing technological sectors.
Ireland is the No 1 location in Europe for life-sciences investment, with 25,000 direct employees, according to Career Zoo.
Exports totalled €50.8bn in 2013 (30pc of the national total), and the country is home to nine out of the top 10 pharma and bio-tech companies, with 18 biopharmaceutical plants.
At Career Zoo, we spoke to a number of companies who appeared to have nothing but optimism both for the future of Ireland and its graduates, but also in its power to attract top talent from around the world to work here and creating more diverse workplaces. Watch this space for full interviews with each of these companies to follow – but first, we ask the all-important question of what skills these employers are looking for.
