There is a real buzz around data science of late, with data being deemed “the new oil”, which by extension would make data scientists the new oil tycoon.

Oceans of data are being generated every day. When applied correctly, data can save companies time and money in a myriad of ways, such as by streamlining product design.

Understandably, the idea of getting involved in this kind of work is extremely enticing, with the promise of lucrative salaries and the opportunity to work with some of the largest companies in the world being offered.

Here are nine companies currently hiring in data science right now.

Accenture

Accenture is a global management consulting and professional services company. It provides a range of strategy, digital, technology and operations services, and currently partners with more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500.

The company is hiring data scientists, data analysts, data engineers and AI software engineers at its Dublin location.

Fidelity Investments

Fidelity Investments established its Ireland presence in 1996 and currently employs more than 1,000 staff across IT, operations and corporate shared services, with offices in Dublin and Galway.

The company is currently looking for an investment data analytics analyst in its Dublin office.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch

Bank of America Merrill Lynch is one of the largest financial firms in the world and provides services in mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, lending, trading, risk management, research, and liquidity and payments management.

The investment banking division is hiring data scientists at its US centres in Charlotte (North Carolina) and Atlanta (Georgia).

Aon

Aon is a global professional services firm that provides risk, retirement and health solutions in more than 120 countries. The behemoth currently has 500 offices worldwide with 50,000 employees.

It is seeking a data engineer for its Dublin office.

Bristol Myers-Squibb

Global biopharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS) employs 27,000 people worldwide, all of whom are focused on the company’s mission to discover, develop and provide innovative medicines to patients suffering from serious diseases.

BMS is hoping to recruit a data analytics scientist at its large-scale biologics manufacturing facility in Devens, Massachusetts.

Oath

Oath is a subsidiary of Verizon Communications that serves as the umbrella company of its content subdivisions. Oath oversees platforms such as Tumblr, Yahoo, HuffPost and TechCrunch.

It is looking for a data centre engineer to work in its base in Singapore and a data scientist for its centre in Champaign, Illinois.

MSD

MSD is a global healthcare leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and animal health products. The pharma giant announced more than 300 jobs earlier this year in a massive expansion.

MSD is currently hiring for a plant maintenance data lead in Cork.

Intel

Intel is an American multinational technology company founded in 1968 by semiconductor pioneers Robert Noyce and Gordon Moore (of Moore’s Law fame).

The tech giant currently has data scientist roles available at its various offices in California, Oregon, Arizona, Texas and Massachusetts.

Pramerica

Pramerica provides a range of business and technology services to its parent company, Prudential Financial, which offers financial products such as life assurance, annuities and mutual asset funds to customers in more than 30 countries.

The company has a range of data science positions up for grabs.
