Arts Alliance Media (AAM), one of the world’s major providers of digital cinema players, is to create 20 new jobs in Cork with the establishment of a Software Development Operation.
London-headquartered AAM develops software for cinemas to import content, encode films and manage advertising.
As well as this, AAM provides other services, including installation, maintenance and support for cinemas who wish to convert from 35mm to digital.
AAM was the first company in Europe to secure deals for digital cinema rollout with the Hollywood studios, and is now working around the world to roll out digital cinema. The company’s software is installed on around 20,000 cinema screens worldwide.
Innovation Minister Sean Sherlock said the investment is great news for Cork City and further proof that Ireland is seen as an important location for international firms to grow and expand their business.
“The pool of talent and excellent education centres in the Cork region lead us to choosing the city and will allow AAM to both drive forward both our software portfolio and technical innovation in the cinema industry,” explained AAM CIO Matt Sullivan.
IDA Ireland CEO Barry O’Leary said digital cinema is an exciting and emerging segment in Ireland’s thriving digital-media sector, which continues to enjoy strong growth.
“Arts Alliance Media is a great example of a young emerging company making a base in Ireland from which to grow and develop,” O’Leary said.
